Engineering Information - Step Ahead

GeoRef

GeoRef is a database of abstracted and indexed geosciences literature published by the American Geological Institute (AGI). The newest addition to Elsevier’s Engineering Village search platform, GeoRef provides a comprehensive history of geology and its subfields with expertly indexed records from scholarly journals, books, maps, and conference proceedings. In addition, the database includes all publications of the US Geological Survey and masters’ theses and dissertations from United States and Canadian universities.

GeoRef gives researchers access to the information they need to efficiently evaluate geology and its role in the context of history, economics, engineering, and more.

Engineering Village’s new mapping tool plots geographic locations included in GeoRef search results on a digital map, using Google Maps technology to provide a powerful visualization of result information. The mapping tool plots data from Engineering Village’s existing GeoBase database as well.

Searching GeoRef on Engineering Village gives users:

  • A new results-based mapping tool powered by Google Maps technology that plots geographical features from a result set onto a digital map, providing both context and insight into search results
  • Combined searching ability with Engineering Village’s GeoBase for unparalleled, multidisciplinary coverage of global literature across the earth sciences
  • Over 200 years of geological literature from North America, plus 75 years of geological literature from the rest of the world
  • Accurate, relevant results indexed specifically for geosciences research using the GeoRef Thesaurus
